Festival Program Note

Groans get sampled, punchlines sidechain the drop, and a fuzzy comic turns misses into a roar. It’s a hug to the kind bomb-artist who lands the biggest laugh by “failing” on purpose.

The people behind the music

Track dedication

Dedicated to the hecklers—yeah, you too. Not because the shouting is helpful, but because it usually means you care in some sideways way, or you’re carrying something that doesn’t fit anywhere else and it leaks out loud. Sometimes it’s nerves, sometimes it’s loneliness, sometimes it’s the weird urge to prove you exist in a room that already feels too big.

You’re not the villain of the night. You’re a person. And I’m betting that if we met you outside the spotlight—in line for water, on a smoke break, walking back to the lot—you’d be kinder than your worst moment. So here’s a little reminder in song form: you don’t have to throw stones to be seen. Come be part of the thing.

Unless you are just a bully, in which case, f*** you.

Fictional behind-the-scenes notes

Behind the track

Atlas, a fictional Bobku puppet producer persona.

Lead puppet producer · in-universe

Atlas

One of Bobku’s fictional crew personas.

Atlas almost never takes the lead, but The Heckler Algorithm felt personal. As the studio’s general manager, he’s the one who absorbs the notes, the complaints, the “can we tweak it again?” emails, so turning boos into beats wasn’t just a concept—it was policy. He built the track like an error-handling system: sample the groan, gate the boo, quantize the crash—treat every failure as input instead of interruption. Beneath the packet jokes and punchlines, it’s Atlas quietly proving that timing isn’t just musical—it’s emotional—and if you hold the line long enough, even a heckle can become part of the groove.

The words

Lyrics

Welcome to the Cyber-Spotlight Please put your hands together for, Fozzie Bear Uh, hiya, wocka. A packet walks into a server, delivers My timing's off. It sure is He's bombing, get the hook Latency, my packets You call that a joke, tragedy Tragedy, wait, you're right The timing is the joke Grab the groan to toms Gate that boo to noise hats Rimshot equals snare flam Bowtie to one-four-oh Three, two, line Run the punchline, lock the grid Turn the heckle into heat, we did Quantize the crash, keep it tight The joke's alive, the timing's right Wocka Well, that was, loud I've heard dryer drops from a leaky faucet Two packets walk into a bar Cor-rupt-ted-ted, that's my pre-fill The algorithm's lagging, it can't keep pace I'm looping your boos all over the place Bowtie's in sync, the crowd's in the groove Time to make the punchline move Get ready for the hook! Oh no, not again Three, two, ignite Kill the latency, shift the feet Off-grid barbs become the beat Quantize the crash, keep it tight The joke's alive, the timing's right It's not easy You bomb because you care You just want to make people laugh Even, even the ones who boo first Is he, serious? He's pulling us in Gotcha, sampled and looped You're the hype-men now Audience, ready for the drop Yes. No, no, no. More, more, more Hit the punchline Flip the key, turn wrong to right Every boo becomes a light Run the punchline, own the night We laughed it true, we timed it tight Wocka See, timing's everything
